Productivity scores and distraction alerts
After you mark Outlook productive and youtube.com unproductive, VisibleHours adds the minutes. The score is productive ÷ classified — productive time divided by classified time for one calendar day, arithmetic on labels you already wrote. Classified means a window is productive or unproductive. Unclassified (neutral) and idle stay out of the percentage — they are not a score of zero. “No classified time” is honest: no labeled minutes yet, not 0%.
A distraction alert is an in-app list when unproductive minutes cross the number you set (30 is the default; 0–480). 0 turns alerts off — it does not delete rules or invent a score. Unclassified minutes do not fire an alert. VisibleHours does not email anyone from an alert, and it does not fire, rank, or grade people. The tray stays visible. Team pulse is four today numbers plus a roster — not a scores gallery. Insights is the Monday–Sunday rollup of the same math, not a live model.
Public Search “scores”, “productivity score”, or “open scores” stays here. It will not set a threshold or mark apps. After sign-in, Ask “scores”, “productivity score”, or “open scores” opens the real screen; “distraction alerts” opens /scores#alerts; “alert threshold” opens /scores#threshold; “scores by person” opens /scores#people. “scores tutorial” or “how to read scores” opens Help. - Set the unproductive-minutes threshold (30 is the default; 0 turns alerts off).
- Open the person’s timeline from an alert to see the windows that counted.
What this is not
- Not AI scoring, not a black-box coach, and not machine-learning fiction. There is no model, no grade, and no learned ranking. Ask “AI coaching from scores” or “black-box productivity score” is refused.
- Not HR firing automation. Ask “auto-fire employees by score” is refused. A percentage does not terminate anyone.
- Not a secret spy score. Employees still see the tray and can pause. Ask “secret productivity spy score” is refused.
- Not a competitor-style productivity grade that ranks or punishes people.
- Not a web filter. It does not block sites or close apps.
- Idle and unclassified minutes stay out of the percentage — not a 0% score.
- Not outreach. VisibleHours does not email a person from an alert.
- Not a done-for-you workflow. Public Search will not set a threshold or mark apps.
