App and URL productive / unproductive rules

VisibleHours already records the active app and, when Windows exposes it, the browser domain. Operations then writes simple labels: Outlook is productive, youtube.com is not. You write the rule. VisibleHours does not guess, train a model, or ship a catalog of apps. Unmatched active time stays unclassified — that is the neutral leftover, not a score of zero. Idle stays idle. A rule never reclassifies a pause. The tray icon does not change.

A URL rule matches a domain and its subdomains. An app rule matches the window’s app name. When the agent captured a domain, the URL rule wins. Longer patterns win ties. Saved rules stamp minutes you already recorded — they apply immediately, only inside this organization. They do not block a site, close an app, or hide the tray.

Public Search “rules”, “open rules”, or “add a url rule” stays here. It will not mark an app unproductive for you forever. After sign-in, Ask “rules”, “open rules”, or “add a url rule” opens the real screen; “rules tutorial” or “how to classify apps” opens Help. Ask “please mark this app unproductive for me forever” is refused.

  1. Add a URL rule for a domain (example: youtube.com → unproductive), or an app rule for a window name (example: Outlook → productive).
  2. Choose productive or unproductive. Those are the only labels you write.
  3. URL rules win when a domain was captured. Longer patterns win ties.
  4. Read the day on Rules, then open a person’s timeline — each block is Productive, Unproductive, Unclassified, or Idle. Those labels are not a percentage.
  5. Need a daily percentage? That lives on Scores after a label exists — productive ÷ classified. Scores cannot divide until you write a rule.

What this is not

  • Not a web filter. It does not block sites or close apps.
  • Not AI classification. You write the label. There is no learned catalog.
  • Not a hidden score and not a firing tool. Employees still see the tray and can pause. Daily percentages live on Scores after you write a label.
  • Not a keylogger. Rules use the app name and domain already on the timeline.
  • Not a done-for-you catalog. Public Search will not mark an app unproductive forever.
  • Not outreach. VisibleHours does not email employees from this screen.
