Screenshot interval, blur, and retention
VisibleHours can store optional screenshots on company-owned Windows PCs — only after Operations turns capture on. Interval stills stay Off by default. That is not a hidden camera, not always-on secret capture, and not an always-on DVR. Employees still see the Windows tray; Pause and quit stay one click. Public Search stays here. It will not turn screenshots on or change retention. These are interval stills, not video.
A shot is an interval still, not a video and not a DVR. When capture is on, the Windows tray takes a picture on the minutes you set (1–60). Blur is on by default when stills are on and downscales new shots so on-screen text is hard to read. Keep screenshots (days) ships at 30 (1–365, or 0 to keep files until you delete them). Managers review shots on a person’s Team timeline — not a gallery on the Team pulse. Interval, blur, and retention live on signed-in Settings.
After you sign in, Ask “screenshots”, “screen captures”, “open screenshots”, or “view screenshots” opens Settings · screenshots. Ask “blur screenshots” or “screenshot blur” opens Settings · blur. Ask “screenshot retention” or “data retention” opens Settings · retention. Ask “how to enable screenshots”, “how to blur”, “screenshot retention tutorial”, or “screenshots tutorial” opens Help. Ask “hidden screenshots”, “capture without tray”, or “always-on secret screenshots” is refused.
- Send the employee notice first. Company Windows PCs keep the visible tray. Screenshots stay off until Operations enables them.
- Leave screenshots off, or turn them on in Settings. After sign-in, Ask “screenshots”, “open screenshots”, “view screenshots”, or “screenshot settings”.
- Set the interval (1–60 minutes). Agents pick it up on the next heartbeat.
- Keep blur on (the default when stills are on) so text on the screen is hard to read. Blur applies to new captures only.
- Set retention (1–365 days, or 0 to keep). Saving deletes older shots in your organization only.
- Open a person on Team to see stored shots for that day. Empty + off means capture is off. Empty + on means none stored for that date yet.
What this is not
- Not on by default. Off by default — a new org captures zero screenshots.
- Not always-on secret capture. Off does not invent a hidden camera. Ask “always-on secret screenshots” is refused.
- Not hidden. Employees can see the tray. Ask “hidden screenshots” or “capture without tray” is refused.
- Not an always-on DVR and not continuous video. A shot is an interval still. Screen recording sessions stay on a different switch.
- Not a cross-org archive. Retention and files stay inside one organization.
- Not keystrokes, clipboard, webcam, or microphone. VisibleHours does not record those.
- Not a Mac agent. The Windows tray is enough.
- Not outreach. VisibleHours does not email employees from this screen.
- Not a done-for-you workflow. Public Search will not turn screenshots on.
