Scores are productive ÷ classified — not a black-box productivity AI

Score is productive time divided by classified time. Idle and unclassified stay out. Not a black-box productivity AI, not a learned grade, and not a firing tool.

A VisibleHours score is productive time divided by classified time. Classified means a window is productive or unproductive because you wrote the rule. Unclassified (neutral) and idle stay out of the percentage — they are not a score of zero. “No classified time” is honest: nothing to divide, not 0%. The number is arithmetic on labels you already wrote. It is not a black-box productivity AI, not a learned grade, and not a firing tool.

The public page is /features/scores. The click-through is the scores tutorial. After you sign in, Ask “scores”, “productivity score”, “open scores”, or “alert threshold” opens Scores. “scores tutorial” or “how to read scores” opens Help. Ask or Search “score formula guide”, “classified score guide”, or “formula score guide” stays on this article. “scores guide” still opens the scores and alerts workup— that piece covers the daily list and the distraction threshold. This one is the formula: productive ÷ classified, not a black-box. Ask “auto-fire employees by score” or “secret productivity spy score” is refused. Public Search will not set a threshold.

You write the label. Then divide.

  1. Write URL and app rules on URL rules. Without a label there is nothing to divide.
  2. Open Scores for the day. Each person with classified minutes gets a percentage.
  3. Idle stays idle. Unclassified stays unclassified. Neither enters the divisor.
  4. A distraction alert is an in-app list when unproductive minutes cross your threshold. 0 turns alerts off — it does not invent a score.
  5. Need the week? Insights uses the same productive ÷ classified arithmetic on a Monday–Sunday rollup — not AI coaching.

The score does not close an app, hide the tray, or terminate anyone. Employees still see pause and quit. VisibleHours does not email a person from an alert. A high or low number is not a secret spy score.

What this is not

  • Not a black-box productivity AI. There is no model and no learned ranking.
  • Not AI scoring and not a competitor-style grade that punishes people.
  • Not HR firing automation. Ask “auto-fire employees by score” is refused.
  • Not a web filter. Rules do not block a site or close an app.
  • Idle and unclassified stay out of the percentage — not a 0% score.
  • Not outreach. Site search will not email a score or set a threshold.
